About
Created in 2004 in Walla Walla, Washington, House Wine was conceived by ex-rock n’ roll manager and award-winning Washington winemaker Charles Smith. Inspired by the everyday table wines of Europe, Smith’s vision was to create a delicious wine at a maximum value and quality, with an iconic yet simplistic label. Since that time, oh, how our House has expanded! From its humble Washington beginnings, consumer demand had our winemaking team on a quest for the most popular varieties from the best sources near and far, as well as expanded formats that offered bottle, box, and can.

Our Winemaker
A true original with nearly two decades in the wine industry, award-winning winemaker Hal Landvoigt travels to wine regions around the world at least twice annually, sourcing the most compelling grape varieties, delving into nontraditional formats and cultivating a unique, unpretentious winemaking style. After working alongside Charles Smith from the beginning to develop House Wine, Hal has singlehandedly driven the spirit of House Wine since 2009 as its lead winemaker. Under his charge, Hal’s brought House Wine continued Best Buy acclaim year after year and helped carve out a national sensation in the wine-in-cans format. His motto: don’t overthink it, just drink it.
